Khuzdar: Two students clashed with police at the University of Agriculture, Water and Ocean Sciences on Wednesday.
Police later arrested six students on charges, despite student group Baloch Student Action Committee (BSAC) claiming that the number of detainees is much higher.
The group has proven for several days against the suspension of multiple students in university administration.
According to the BSAC, the dispute began on September 16, when the university government, with the help of police, forced the commemoration for the famous poet Mubarak Qazi and suspended several students after the clash, sparking protests.
When BSAC members tried to establish a protest camp within the university, the government called again to police officers, who used batons and tear shells to disperse the protests. Videos circulating on social media show students who can hear gunshots running around campus.
Students claimed that two of their colleagues were injured due to police shootings.
However, DSP Hasil Khan denied any firing, saying only the baton charges and tears were used to disperse the violent crowd.
Police said six students were arrested on suspicion of vandalism.
