Sukkur: Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench expressed frustration over the delay in rehabilitation in flood-affected schools in the Sanghi area.
At Thursday’s hearing, officials from the Ministry of Education and Education Engineering appeared in the Constitutional seat, including Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi and Justice Riazat Ali Sahar.
Petitioner Abdul Malik Zabiullah Jatoi told the court that the school building was destroyed 2022 Flooddespite three years of approval, the Ministry of Education Engineering has not yet completed maintenance and construction work. He added that, therefore, students are forced to study in inappropriate places without basic facilities.
The respected court condemned officials, including the elementary, middle and high school districts Sukr, Hafiz Shah Pudding, Dio Said Gram Murtasa Shah, Educational Engineering SDO DOST ALI and other officials regarding their unsatisfactory answers.
The court has ordered them to provide detailed reports on the resumption of the school and the provision of basic facilities to students within a week.
It said Sukkur, chief engineer of Education Engineering and other responsible officials will have to appear with the report at the next hearing.
Notify the highway police
The same bench also admitted a petition against the so-called injustice of the National Highway Police and issued a notice to the nominated respondents.
The petitioner’s lawyers, Shiraz Fazal Awaisi and Ahmed Mehran Goraya, argued that trucks parked on the national highway were stopped by police for several hours.
Lawyers claim that the National Highway Police Department’s dense signs ambiguous list and registers hundreds of heavy vehicles before being forced to pull up on different earth comprides without any explanation. This can lead to increased traffic congestion and nighttime accidents.
They added that when the driver asked police officers, they were harassed and threatened. They also pointed out that the long delays prevented the cargo from reaching its destination on time, directly affecting the driver’s livelihood.
After hearing this argument, the court issued a notice to the National Highway Police and others’ poems and SPs and directed them to appear on October 15.
City invasion
The bench also demanded a evacuation from the City Point of Sukel for the deadline for the authorities, and a service road and a turnaround were built.
It was filed by Faqir Athar Hussain Abro for registration of city points.
Sukkur SSP Azhar Mughal, Transportation SP, NHA officials, deputy commissioner representatives and officials concerned with other departments appeared on the bench.
The court asked the SP about the safety measures taken to prevent possible accidents.
He replied that he lacked power, office or staff, and that all power was related to SSP actions.
The esteemed court then sought clarification from the SSP, which said the issue was caused by narrow roads and passenger cars. However, traffic personnel have been deployed there, he said.
NHA officials told the court that once the district government allocates the country, a higher road will be approved under the court’s order and will work under the court’s order.
He also assured the bench that a standard turn-around and service road would be built.
The court ordered representatives of Washington, D.C. to hand over government land to the NHA where available, or to purchase the same land from private owners.
Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi pointed out that illegal bus stops and encroachments at city points must be removed.
