Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said on Tuesday that the provincial government will use its own resources to use flood victims’ relief cards instead of using the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to assist them.
The governor emphasized at a press conference on the Director’s public relations that disaster relief should not be transformed.
“The relief card will ensure that it helps to reach the right people without further suffering. We focus on service rather than politicization,” she said.

The governor criticized the person she claimed was using the crisis to “advance his political agenda.”
“Our focus is on relief and rehabilitation. Not everything should become politics,” she said. “These relief buses and programs are targeted at the people, not headlines.”
The Punjab government announced a compensation package that includes crop losses of Rs 20,000 per acre, total destruction of Rs 1 million, partially damaged houses of Rs 500,000 and livestock losses of Rs 500,000.
Bokhari stressed: “All of this funding comes from the Punjab government’s own resources. We have not asked for financial assistance from anyone.”

“Of course, questions may be raised about why there was no preparation during previous floods. But this time, we are ready to prepare in every way,” she said.
