Manshra: Police on Saturday refuted a statement circulating on social media, saying only married couples were allowed to go to the scenic Kahan Valley.
“Our social media surveillance team revolved around the lock and encountered a post claiming that the police allowed couples to enter Kaghan Valley only after displaying a marriage (Wedlock) certificate.
This is totally wrong and unfounded,” District Policeman Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters.
He cleared police bans on the three-day event, which also performed night music.
“Those who promote through video logs or social media will bring it to justice under strict laws because we cannot let a few people disturb the peaceful environment of Kaghan Valley,” the DPO declared.
He said police recently launched a crackdown on “harassment”, “vulgar” and “immoral” activities online and on social media platforms and arrested many people. He added that such misleading posts may be a reaction to the movement.
“We will never let a small number of Tiktokers and social media influencers destroy the peaceful environment in our region through ‘immoral’ and socially unacceptable content. Our repression will continue without any disruption,” Mr Gandur said.
He stressed that the police welcomed nationals and foreign tourists to the Kaghan Valley and other parts of the region as thousands of locals won their lives through tourism.
