Islamabad: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal On Monday, all matters of the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) will be computerized soon to minimize human intervention and eliminate inefficiency.
He is presided over a meeting on PNC affairs attended by the Federal Minister of Health and another secretary.
The minister announced that PNC would be digitized to ensure efficiency, advantages and transparency in all IT operations.
“We will restore the loss of credibility of nursing professionals and transform the Pakistan Nursing Council into a modern, effective and internationally recognized institution,” the minister said.
Mr. Kamal emphasized the important role of nursing in Pakistan’s health system and emphasized the urgency shortage of nursing professionals.
He added: “Pakistan is currently facing a shortage of nearly 900,000 nurses, while globally there is a shortage of about 2.5 million.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the nursing sector through comprehensive reforms, strong policies and modern digital systems.
He further pointed out that nursing is one of the most critical pillars of the health sector and bold steps are being taken to bring professionals into compliance with international standards.
He added: “We will modernize the nursing sector and ensure effective reforms based on performance-based practices and profiles so that caregivers in Pakistan can meet national and international requirements.”
The Minister concluded that the reform of the nursing sector will continue to focus on transparency, merits and modernists to enhance professionals and ensure quality health care is delivered to Pakistan.
