The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday condemned the deaths of civilians during “operations against terrorists” in the province’s Tirah area.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat said that after the incident, CM Ali Amin Gandapur and the delegation of the region were with PTI MNA IQBAL AFRIDI, KP Chief Secretary, other Chief Secretary (Home), Peshawar Commissioner and other officials. The law and order situation in the “context of unfortunate events” that occurred in Tirah was examined.
“The tr difficulties of civilians in the incident are regrettable and condemned. The actions against terrorists are difficult for civilians to accept,” the statement said.
It added that regretted the unfortunate events in the meeting and provided prayers for the dead.
The statement said the Chief Minister announced that Rs 10 million of compensation was provided to the victim’s families. The meeting also considered a plan of action in detail to prevent such incidents in the future.
“In this regard, it was decided to hold a meeting in Gilga, consisting of elected public representatives in the region, leaders of all political parties, and locals and senior military officials from elsewhere.
“The future action plan for peace and order will be decided at the meeting of Gilga with military officials,” the statement said. He added that an agreement was reached to adopt a strategy among the Tiras to establish peace and order.
The statement said that during the meeting, the special focus was on the need to gain the trust of locals and residents of peace in the region.
Earlier in the day, the Pakistan Human Rights Commission said it was “deeply shocked” to hear reports of the killings of several civilians allegedly caused by the “air bombing” in Tira and to request an investigation into the matter.
It requires that “the authorities cause immediate and impartial events in the incident and be responsible for those responsible”.
“The constitutional need for the state to protect the right to life of all civilians, and this has never been secured,” the HRCP statement said.
KP Parliament President Babar Swati called on the federal and provincial governments to be transparent about the incident, investigate immediately, and identify the person in charge, not only providing immediate relief and compensation to affected families, but also taking comprehensive measures for their recovery.
