Karachi: A 10-year-old girl was raped and murdered in her Suriyani town home on Monday and showed up on Tuesday.
Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed said the girl’s body was identified as Asiya and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy on Monday night.
An autopsy showed she suffered sexual violence and was strangled to death. The surgeon added that the diagnosis has been performed using sample examination.
Police confirmed in a statement Tuesday that medical staff’s reports indicated the victim was strangled. Police also said suicide was to cover up the murder.
Initially, residents informed the Madadgar-15 police that the girl’s body was hung inside the house of Surjani Town Sector-5-A.
The victim’s father, Abdullah, told police that he went to work and left his daughter and son Raheel at home. Later he received news of his daughter’s death.
A spokesman for the West SSP said police have decided to register the case on behalf of the state through police because the family appears to be reluctant to file a lawsuit.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman was killed in Korangi on Tuesday, police said.
The Awami Colony added that Zeenat Bibi was killed by Bilal Colony’s husband Qamber Ali. Police said she was killed for so-called honor and her sister has been arrested. Her body was transferred to Jinnah Graduate Medical Center for medical legal procedures.
