Islamabad: Police on Friday, after a conflict with the president of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA), the spouse under the Counter-Terrorism Act and several lawyers related to PTI have booked a right to speak out under the Counter-Terrorism Act.

Bar Association leaders claimed a group of lawyers attacked his president, harassed him, and put forward slogans targeting state agencies.

In various parts of Pakistan’s Criminal Law and Counter-Terrorism Bill, FIR is targeting Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali Chattha, Hadi Ali Chattha, Zainab Janjua, PTI-CAMAIDIAD lawyer Naem Panjhuta, Fathellah Barki, etc.

Lawyers held protests at the IHC premises to oppose the withdrawal of Justice Tarik Mahamod Jahangiri from the judicial work.

Demonstrators carried placards and raised slogans to support judicial independence. Aleem Abbasi, a member of the Islamabad lawyers’ committee of former president of IHCBA RIASAT ALI, and advocate Mazari, were outstanding among the lawyers attending the rally.

FIR includes terrorist allegations; lawyers file disputes after IHC protests

However, tensions occurred after the demonstrations when lawyers (including Intizar Hussain Panjotha, Naem Panjotha and Fateheullah Barki) confronted IHCBA President Wajid Ali Gilani. Witnesses reported that PTI lawyers pushed Mr. Gillani to the dispute before IHCBA secretary Manzoor Ahmed Jaja and other lawyers intervened.

The president of the IHCBA, accompanied by Secretary and Vice-Chairman of the Lawyer Committee, later condemned the incident and announced that it would mention the law firm’s terrorism case to cancel the defendant’s attorney.

Mr Gilani claimed that a group of lawyers, including Imaan Mazari and Zainab Janjua, beat him up, drag him and brand him with a traitor.

He said they were armed and pressured him to file a case against PTI founder Imran Khan, who he refused. “We have no personal or political agenda. We are neither aligned with any political party or any judge. Our role is to serve lawyers and my press conferences should not be politicized.”

Mr Jaja claimed that the protests’ bone hero did not formally apply for a lawyer and violated the procedure. He stressed that terrorism cases will be filed against the cases of participants and a formal request to cancel their permits will be made. “We are not the touts of any judge (and) those behaviors like this,” he said.

Vice-Chairman Nase Kayani warned against exploiting Justice Jahangiri for personal motives. He announced that the attorney responsible for the attack would be banned from entering the IHC home and his permit was suspended after receiving a formal complaint.

The IHCBA leaders reiterated their commitment to abide by the Constitution and the rule of law, and vowed not to succumb to pressure or intimidation.
