Peshawar: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said on Wednesday that peace in the region can be restored through negotiations and traditional Girgas.

“Stability can only be achieved after stability in Afghanistan is achieved,” he said in a meeting with the British High Commissioner with the Chief Minister of the Pakistani Jane Marriott Conference.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat said the meeting discussed issues of the common interests and overall security situation in the region.

Mr. Gandapur said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hosted Afghan refugees For decades and continue to promote their dignified return to homeland. He said the provincial government is expanding all possible aid to Afghan families returning home.

The Chief Minister also told the British High Commissioner that a particular focus was on ongoing public welfare projects implemented in the province with the support of the British government.

The statement said both sides were determined to further strengthen cooperation and partnerships in the social sector.

The British High Commissioner said a new program was launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after successfully completing the “Seed” and “SNG” programmes.
