Rawalpindi: Despite opposition to defense lawyers, Rawalpindi’s Counter-Terrorism Court (ATC) recorded testimony from three other witnesses on Saturday case On May 9, 2023, against former Prime Minister Imran Khan was linked to violent protests outside the GHQ Army headquarters.
The court held a hearing, regardless of the objection of Mr Khan’s legal team, they demanded a stop to the video link trial and insisted on his face-to-face appearance.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah resumed the lawsuit in a headquarters (GHQ) protest case as Mr Khan filed a lawyer and sought his personal appearance. They urged the court to stop the trial conducted through video links, and Mr Khan appeared from Adhiara prison.
The head of the prosecutor, Raja Ikram Ameen Minhas, argued that a similar application had been dismissed and that the defense lawyer did not file the order with the Lahore High Court. He claimed the defense filed an application for a previous decision to undermine the court’s handling.

The judge noted that he could not stop the trial unless the Appeal Forum restricted him from doing so.
The court then recorded statements from three witnesses prosecuted: Tehzeebul Hassan, Asmat Kamal and Akbar. Testimony of 44 of the 50 prosecutors have been recorded. The court summoned three other witnesses to conduct a hearing on September 30.
Saturday’s legal argument reflects ongoing disputes about the format of the trial.
On September 19, Justice Shah ruled that the trial would be a hero in court venues, not in Adhiyara Prison, but said it would mark Khan’s attendance through video links, and the Punjab government noticed the order passed after citing security issues.

The judge then conducted testimony prosecuting witnesses when the defense attorney left the court, and later told reporters about connectivity issues in the video link arrangement.
Prosecutors said it hopes that evidence for Khan and his other leaders of the Pakistani Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party will end next week, after which witnesses are expected to begin cross-examination of witnesses.
