Gwadar: Noor ul Haq Baloch, chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), said that the ongoing power crisis in port cities has damaged daily life and affected the water supply industry as well as the fishing industry.

He stressed that the permanent solution requires immediate joint efforts between the federal government and the Quetta Electric Power Company (QESCO).

He expressed these views at a meeting with QESCO CEO Yousaf Shah to review the ongoing power issues in the region, including those affecting the Gwadar port, the Gwadar Free area and the 1.2MGD desalination plant.

Since Guadal was connected to the State Grid, the GPA chairperson has expressed concerns about repeated power fluctuations, disruptions and loads. He said unresolved loads, low voltages and frequent transformer failures have caused serious difficulties for residents.

Both sides stressed the urgent need to upgrade the power system and replace outdated lines and transformers to ensure ubiquitous supply to the city of Guadal and surrounding areas.
