Islamabad: His lawyer Latif Khosa contacted Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Thursday as PTI leader Imran Khan has been in jail for more than two years letter The former prime minister detailed his hardships in prison and asked for his pending case to be arranged quickly.
Mr. Khosa handed the letter to the top judge at a meeting that lasted more than an hour and later told the media staff that the CJP guaranteed a “positive response” to their plight within 24 hours and asked them to make appropriate applications in this regard.
To convey the “denial of justice and fundamental rights – a call to the Supreme Court”, Mr. Khosa arrived with Aleema Khan, Javed Hashmi and other PTI leaders, but the rest briefly ceased at the entrance to the Supreme Court. However, they were then allowed to enter the house, where they waited until the meeting between CJP and Mr. Khosa ended.
After the meeting, Mr. Khosa told reporters that the CJP listened attentively and assured them that the policy of any arrested persons would be proposed within 24 hours.
Mr Khosa said the CJP had written imprisonment for the complaint against the former headquarters and guaranteed his resentment and response to him within 24 hours. He said: “We will notify you of everything that happened within 24 hours (Part 2).
Mr Khosa said he also expressed “our reservation” to the Chief Justice and raised the issue of prison reform. “The CJP has made recommendations on prison reform,” he said.
Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan announced during media interaction that they will return to the Supreme Court on Friday to learn about the results of the letter written by Imran Khan.
“Door or Justice”
In a message to CJP, the former prime minister claimed that “the door of justice remains closed to him and his wife” and that he is “continuously lonely in prison.” The PTI leader said he has been facing 300 “politically motivated cases” and asked the CJP to hear its pending petition immediately before all courts. He also requested medical facilities for his spouse Bibi’s spouse Bibi and called his son as required by the prison manual. “Her health continues to deteriorate, but her doctors are prohibited from examining her, let alone providing any treatments,” he said in the letter.
According to the PTI chief, thousands of supporters of the party have been sentenced to jail, and many, including his nephew, have been subjected to military trials for violations of constitutional protection.
His letter also mentioned the “leakage” federal report in the February 8 election and said PTI’s mission was to be “stolen overnight.” The letter claimed that the 26th Amendment had been used as a tool to sanctify theft case of the mission, and that the challenged petition was unheard of in the Supreme Court.
The letter pointed out that the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court deliberately refused to resolve his Qadir Trust-190 million corruption case and Toshakhana appeal.
The top IHC judges allegedly abandoned justice altogether and shortened the High Court to host the “injust and authoritarian movement” against him and those associated with him. He urged the CJP to direct Justice Sarfraz Dogar to repair the critical petition, including in the Qadir Trust case.
The letter also mentions the suspension of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Bhutto was hanged in a prison in Rawalpindi on April 4, 1979, and the Supreme Court ruled in 2024 that a fair trial and due progress requirements were absent. “In the truest sense, justice must be realized in real time, and 44 years later, Pyrrhic justice happened.”
The letter said: “I am the President or the largest political party in Pakistan; everything guaranteed by the Constitution alone: justice, dignity and equality before the law.”
