Islamabad: As dog bites cases increase, the capital’s growing stray dogs have caused trouble for citizens, but authorities have failed to run the Stray Dog Population Control Center (SDPCC) in the form of the proposer.

This failure attracted the attention of Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, who took note and directed the Capital Development Agency (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to take emergency remedies in light of the public.

Under the guidance of the Islamabad High Court and Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman), the civic agency in 2022 has established population controls for stray dogs in the Talia region to control populations of stray dogs (TNVR) through “trap, neutral, vaccination and release” (TNVR).

The center should release at least 800 dogs per month. Initially, the center performed well for several months due to surgery and then the dog was released.

Instruct the CDA to take remedial measures

Sources later said that when the contract ended last year, the center’s performance was due to the cessation of TNV. As a result, the population of stray dogs witnessed an increase in Islamabad.

Currently, it is reported that the center is like a “incarceration center” for stray dogs, just as staff from the Metropolitan Islamabad (MCI) placed them in the center after catching them, allegedly “until death.”

If there is no proper vaccination and “arrest” the dog’s food system, but the dog is surviving based on waste and waste provided by the hotel owner. There is also a dedicated helpline for you to register for complaints against stray dogs present, and now it’s over.

When contacted with several officials from the MCI Municipal Government Bureau (DMA) Bureau, the facility denied that the facility was a prison center, claiming that the dog was relocated to a distant area after the SDPCC lasted for several days.

“We have special arrangements with the hotel to provide us with free food for these dogs. All dogs are properly cared for,” DMA officials said. “We catch stray dogs regularly and daily.”

“The problem of stray dogs is getting worse due to negligence by the Islamabad municipal authorities and has caused serious hardships for the elderly, women and children.

A statement issued by the Ombudsman’s Office.

It said that given the magnitude of the problem, the office of Wafaqi Mohtasib commissioned a professional study that showed that the policies of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Commission have not been implemented in instrumental and spirit.

“In addition to the dinner measures, the study also sheds light on ways and means by other countries in the region to resolve the issue. In this regard, Wafaqi Mohtasib also constitutes a high-level committee that requests meetings with the authorities and recommends measures to address this threat,” it said. “Therefore, a dog center was established in Tarrai. However, the project failed to deliver and the problem persists. ”

Prior to the establishment of the center, the CDA and MCI frequently shot dogs to control their population, but the High Court ordered authorities to stop this cruelty and directed them to establish a dog center.
