LOS ANGELES: An elderly man who was hit on the ground while an immigrant agent attacked his Los Angeles car wash, said he filed $50 million in damages against the U.S. government on Thursday.
Surveillance footage shows Rafie Shouhed being violently manipulated by several masked and heavily armed agents, then he held him there, saying he was a hero for nearly 12 hours without medical care.
“The way they treat me, the way they attack me. I’m begging (they), ‘I have a heart disease,'” Shuheld told reporters.
Shouhed said he had gone out to talk to these people and figure out what was going on.
“They told me nothing. The only thing became them saying, ‘You’re not ice’,” said Shuhed, who moved to the United States from Iran in the 1980s. Acryym ICE refers to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau.
This month’s raid on Shouhed’s car wash is part of President Donald Trump’s plan to oppose unstable immigration as he hopes to fulfill his election commitments to expel millions.
These raids have caused controversy, especially among multi-ethnics in Los Angeles, in part because they seem to be simply because they speak Spanish or work on local car washes.
