Microsoft has said that a set of cloud and AI services were used in the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) after internal reviews found media reports supporting media coverage of surveillance systems on Gaza and the West Bank. Reuters Report.

“We do not provide technology to promote mass surveillance of civilians,” Smith said in a Microsoft blog.
Microsoft has informed Israel’s Ministry of Defense “decided to stop and disable designated IMOD subscriptions and their services, including the use of specific cloud storage as well as AI services and technologies.” Smith said the action would not affect Microsoft’s cybersecurity services to Israel and other countries in the Middle East.
