A group of UN experts urged the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the European Football Association UEFA to suspend Israel’s allegations that are committing genocide in Gaza AFP Report.
“Sports must reject such views,” said eight independent UN experts in a statement.
“Countries representing mass human rights violations can and should be suspended.”
Experts authorized by the UN Human Rights Commission but do not talk about the UN said the suspension of Israel was “a necessary response to addressing the ongoing genocide”.
Experts say countries that hold international organizations and sports competitions with Israel must not “confront genocide and remain neutral.”
They pointed out that they were asked to boycott “the State of Israel rather than individual players.”
“Discrimination or sanctions should not be imposed on individual participants due to their original or nationality,” the expert said.
