China responded strongly to U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan on Friday Re-control control Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base said in the region that “hype tensions and cause confrontation” is contrary to people’s desire.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Ji’an said the country’s future should be decided by the Afghan people Global Era.

“China respects Afghanistan’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the future of the country should be decided by the Afghan people,” he said.

“Publicize tensions and build confrontation in the region,” Lin said. Lin added that China hopes that all parties will play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability on the right.

Trump said Thursday that his administration is trying to secure the return of the Taliban’s Bagram Air Force Base, although details of the secret negotiations have remained scarce so far.

Trump said his motivation for trying to re-emphasize the facility was due to its proximity to nearby locations where China produced nuclear weapons, leaving U.S. control of Bagram without maintaining U.S. control of Bagram under U.S. President Joe Biden.

Although the Provisional Government has not formally responded to Trump’s claims, Taliban official Zakir Jalaly said that Afghans have not yet accepted the historical military presence and that the return of Bagram Air Base was rejected during the Doha talks.

He wrote on X: “Historically, Afghans have not accepted military presence, and this possibility has been completely rejected during the Doha talks and consents.”

Jalaly added that Washington needs to interact with Afghanistan, both countries are based on mutual respect and common interests, with military presence and economic and political relations everywhere in Afghanistan.
