Beijing: China ordered the closure of schools and businesses in at least 10 cities on Tuesday Super Typhoon Lagasa Slammed into the southern part of the country.
Measures taken for human safety will affect tens of millions of people and see multiple factories in the heart of China’s manufacturing industry close.
Shenzhen, a Chinese technology hub, has ordered the evacuation of 400,000 people, and the city’s emergency management authorities warned “huge wind, rain, waves and floods”.
“Please don’t go out casually except emergency personnel and those who make sure people live,” authorities said in a statement, adding that work and market closures will begin in the afternoon.

Other cities in Guangdong Province that are implementing moratorium include Chaozhou, Zhuhai, Dongguan and Foshan.
“The strong winds and heavy rains that will bring about by the typhoon will successfully affect our city, which is a serious defensive situation,” Foshan headquarters said in a statement.
According to Hong Kong’s climate service, the center of Lagasa continues to have the largest winds in its center 230 km (140 miles) per hour.
Hong Kong Closed
Hong Kong closed Tuesday before Super Typhoon Ragasa, authorities urged people to stay home while most passengers were suspended until Thursday.
People piled up in supermarkets and barely stayed on shelves because of panic purchases and residents fearing stores could be closed for two days while residents stocked up on essentials.
The windows of homes and businesses throughout the city have been recorded, and residents hope it can help reduce the impact of any broken glass.
State Broadcasting Corporation CCTV said Guangdong authorities evacuated 770,000 people, adding that one million people are expected to be relocated across the province on Tuesday.
Hong Kong issued a typhoon signal of 8, the third highest at 2.20 pm, urging most businesses and transportation services to close. More than 700 flights have been interrupted, including at nearby gambling centers in Macau and Taiwan.
The weather is expected to deteriorate rapidly.
