The Punjab government has announced a three-shift school system to accommodate students affected by the record stains, forcing more than 3,000 schools across the province to close.
Provincial School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the plan at a meeting with Unicef representative in Pakistan, Pernille Ironside. The session has also reviewed the progress of unreal education projects in the province.
The minister said that widespread flooding has a severely disrupted education for thousands of children, with many school buildings damaged or underwater. He acknowledged that Punjab had already faced a shortage of educational facilities, and that the flames had made the situation further work.
According to him, it can take up to three months to repair the damaged schools. Until then, the government will not only operate existing schools in three shifts, but also arrange for rented private buildings and set up top tent schools in the flood hit regions
