The federal government has announced plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms in Pakistan, starting with Grade 8 students. Under this initiative, AI will be used to teach the national curriculum in the federal government -controlled schools.
A pilot project has been approved to test models in two schools, one urban and one rural, to evaluate its effectiveness in the various environments. If successful, the program is expected to expand gradually, with the potential to reach up to 100,000 students nationwide.
The project is launched by a formal agriculture between the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Mind Hive, a technology firm specializing in digital learning solutions. To ensure quality and accountability, the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) will conduct a compressive overview of the pilot, assessing the outcomes of the discussion and the adaptability of the program.
Education experts emphasize that AI has the potential to transform the process by making it more personalized and engaging. Through AI-powered tools, lessons can be adjusted to match the pace and understanding of every student, which helps to catch poorer learners
