Quetta: Bal Road Branch senior AWAMI party leader and Senator Rubina Irfan resigned from the party on Sunday, the second day after she was elected as secretary-general of the BAP Women’s Wing in an intra-party poll.
In her written resignation submitted to party chairman Nawabzada Khalid Khan Magsi, Ms. Irfan said she had long considered her connection to Bap as honor but no longer found her “personal perspective and ideology” with the party’s trend.
“Working with my conscience, I decided to separate immediately.” She wrote, promising to continue serving the people of Bal Luchistan from the proper platform. She had served as governor earlier.
The Women’s Wings poll also elected former Education Minister Zubaida Jalal as president. Some insiders said those who had surfaced on official nominations at the General Council meeting, noting that the president and the secretary-general had no objection.
