WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he received a “very good response” to a proposal to end the war in Gaza and was optimistic about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the two measures were on Monday.
He said U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, were the Middle East envoys in the first semester, and he held talks with Netanyahu in New York before the White House meeting.
“Getting a good response because Bibi wants to reach a deal, too,” Trump said in a telephone interview with Netanyahu’s nickname.
Trump hints at a breakthrough in the Middle East crisis in an article about his truth social platform. “We have a really great opportunity in the Middle East,” Trump said. “For the first time ever, attending something special. We’ll get it done!!!”

When international leaders gathered at the United Nations in New York this week, the United States revealed a 21-point Middle East peace plan to end the nearly two-year war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
White House officials said the plan requires all prisoners, dead and deaths, further Israeli attacks on Qatar and new dialogue between Israel and Palestinians for peaceful coexistence.
A Hamas representative said earlier that the organization did not see the U.S. plan.
Trump credited leaders including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt and Jordan on Sunday to the process.
He said the deal not only ended the conflict in Gaza, but also worked to achieve a broader peace in the Middle East. “Everyone is involved,” he said. “Everyone wants it, and one of the reasons Hamas wants it because everyone is tired.”
Netanyahu, interviewed Fox News The channel’s “Sunday Briefing” says that under the terms of the agreement, it is possible to amnesty for Hamas leaders. “This detail has to be addressed,” he said.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials said Sunday that Washington’s top messenger’s visit to Israel, Mike Huckabee, had been postponed.
Huckabee plans to visit Cairo to hold talks with Egyptian officials.
Egypt mediates between Israel and Hamas with the United States and Qatar to end the war.
Cairo criticized Israel’s ongoing air and ground attacks in Gaza, with the United Nations estimated that one million people would live before the attack began. Since the outbreak of the war, Egypt has repeatedly warned that the risk of combat has driven hundreds of thousands of Palestinians across its borders into the Sinai Peninsula.
Israeli tanks go deeper into Gaza
In Gaza, Israeli tanks penetrated more deeply into residential areas of Gaza City on Sunday as local health authorities said they could not respond to dozens of desperate calls, expressing concern about the fate of residents in the target area.
Witnesses and medical staff say Israeli tanks have deepened their invasion in Sabra, counting the communities of Al-Hawa, Sheikh Radwan and Al-Naser where thousands of people are sheltering.
Gaza’s Civil Emergency Department said late Saturday that Israel denied 73 requests sent through international organizations to rescue injured Palestinians in Gaza.
In the past 24 hours, the Israeli Air Force has attacked 140 infrastructure, which is described as a “military target” throughout Gaza.
Medical staff reported another 16 deaths in the strikes in central Gaza, bringing the death toll on Sunday to 21. Israeli forces have killed more than 65,000 Palestinians over the past two years.
Meanwhile, Hamas asked the Israeli military to temporarily stop the strike as it tried to find two Israeli prisoners, which it said had lost contact. “The lives of the two prisoners are actually in danger, and the (Israel) forces must immediately evacuate the south of 8th Street and stop air operations at 18:00 for 24 hours to allow prisoners to allow prisoners,” Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades wrote in a statement.
The armed group said in a previous announcement that the loss of contact was caused by Israel’s military operations in two communities in southern Gaza over the past 48 hours.
