A 12-year-old girl, who has been married to her 10-year-old cousin for six months, was found dead on Sunday in Damoi in the Shangla area of Khyber Packtunkus.
Station House Officer (SHO) Ali Hussain of the Olandar Police Department said the incident occurred within the scope of the Olandar Police Department in Damorai. According to Sho, the boy is the girl’s mother’s nephew.
“My team and I visited the girl’s home and her mother was reluctant to hand the body over to the police for an autopsy,” Sho Hussain said. “We took the body to the Alpuri Regional Headquarters Hospital for an autopsy.”
SHO added that once a medical report is received, the cause of his death will be determined.
“We have confirmed that the deceased and her spouse are both underage,” Sho Hussain said. “The deceased is 12 years old and her husband is only 10 years old.
“Marriage is illegal, and the girl’s death is suspicious.”
The police investigated Article 176 of the Code of Criminal Law Procedure (Inquiry by the Magistrate Judge) to determine the cause of the girl’s death.
In response to a question, Sho Hussain said that after consultation with the district attorney, the first information report will be submitted to the Register of Nikah and all witnesses of the two children.
SHO said parents of two will also be arrested and “make justice”.
Sahil’s “Cruel Numbers” report reveal Last year, a total of 1,630 cases of child abuse were reported nationwide.
