Karachi: Sindh government is considering a plan to introduce O and A courses in public schools across the province, with at least one institution offering courses in each region.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah accompanied her delegation with the country director of Cambridge Assessment International Education (CGEE) in Uzma Yousuf, Pakistan. Secretary-School Education Zahid Ali Abbasi and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
The discussion focused on strengthening the educational framework in Sindh, especially in the areas of curriculum development, teacher training, basic learning and evaluation reform.
Both sides agreed to establish a joint working group to develop viable strategies and recommendations.
Mr Sha said the Sindh government is committed to introducing the Cambridge plan in public schools.
He added that under the initiative, at least one school in each district will offer O and A subjects, providing students from disadvantaged backgrounds with opportunities to access international standards education.
He mentioned that the government will support students with registration and examination costs and aims to subsidize these programs to maximize participation.
The minister said: “We do not want talented children to be blocked due to lack of resources. Our goal is to ensure equal opportunities for all.”
Ms. Yousuf emphasized the importance of teacher training and early education reform and pointed out that preparing students at O-level requires structured improvements from early childhood to grades.
She guarantees Cambridge’s full collaboration in supporting reform, capacity building and consulting services, describing teacher development as “sustainable goals with long-term impact”.
