Quetta: Train services between Quetta and other parts of the country cannot be resumed and may be suspended for at least three days after A Bomb explosion Officials said Thursday that earlier this week, some people damaged the railway and a bridge.
On Tuesday, a powerful explosion sent Quetta-bound Jaffar Express through the Spezent area of the Mastung district, investigating at least 12 people.
“Train service between Quetta and the rest of the country will last for three days,” said Omran Hayat, zoning director of the Bakistan Railways in Quetta.
He said work on the damaged track is still in progress and the service will be restored after the security clearance is approved.
Six passenger trains traveling from Peshawar were derailed, one of which was overturned in the explosion.
The injured, including two policemen, women and children, were taken to a hospital in Quetta.
Railway officials said a small railway bridge and most of the tracks were severely damaged. They said the cheating bogie has been removed and repairs are underway.
Preliminary investigations by railway police and security forces showed that 5 kilograms of explosives were planted on the track and were detonated by the remote control.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Railway has decided to tighten safety along its tracks and said it will take all possible steps to ensure the safety of passengers and commodities trains.
