Rome: Italy and Spain deploy naval ships to assist international aid fleets trapped in drones attack While trying to provide assistance to Gaza, tensions with Israel are likely to increase.

Global Sumud Flotilla is using about 50 civilian ships to try to break Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza. Many lawyers, lawmakers and activists, including Swedish climate athlete Greta Thunberg, participated in the boat.

The Italian Ministry of Defense said that a frigate will be replaced by another after the GSF heads towards Gaza for a few hours.

“This is not a war, but a provocation: it is a human act, it is a state’s obligation to citizens,” Defense Minister Guido Crosetto told the House of Lords.

The Italian Foreign Ministry said Belgium, France and other European countries asked them to help their citizens.

Italy proposed a compromise that aid supplies could be placed in Cyprus and handed over to the Latin master of Jerusalem in the Catholic Church, which was then distributed in Gaza.

However, the Italian delegation rejected the proposal on Thursday, representing Flotilla.

“Our mission is true to its initial goal of breaking the illegal siege (Israel) and providing humanitarian assistance to the Gaza population under consideration,” the Italian organization said in a statement.
