Six journalists, including Lahore Press Club president Muhammad Arshad Ansari, sought a notice from the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday to challenge the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The petitioners were named Ansari, Sheikh Mujahid Latif, Sheraz Nisar, Ahmed Faraz, Yasir Shamoon and Wasem Sabir.
According to the petition, the journalist’s professional responsibilities are to cover criminal cases and highlight the problems and flaws of the police department. Furthermore, it said the petitioners criticized the establishment of the crime control department, appointing the deputy inspector general of the Lahore Police Department (intensive) Faisal Kamran without performance, while the crime rate in Lahore increased.
The reporter argued that this prompted the poet Kamran to launch a malicious social media campaign against petitioners through retired police officials.
It was noted that on September 18, a “premeditated complaint based on false and fabricated content” was submitted to the NCCIA to “defame” the petitioner. It said the NCCIA deputy director made the first and second announcements and made his personal appearance to reporters.
The petitioner argued that the first notice was issued on September 20, the second notice was issued on September 24, and the second day was issued on September 25.
“The gap between the two notices is three days, which shows that the abuse of power/authority is only for the detriment of the petitioner,” the petition said.
“The respondents and notifications are abused by the desires of others simply to undermine the journalist’s desire.”
“These notifications are illegal, illegal and do not stipulate the inspection and balance of the notification mechanism.
The petitioner asked the LHC to revoke the NCCIA’s original September 18 notice because it was “illegal, illegal and invalid”. They also called on the court to suspend the September 18 notice until the petition decision was made.
