Islamabad: City managers have decided to strictly implement new building regulations on all upcoming construction projects to improve energy conservation and efficiency.
The Capital Development Agency (CDA) will ensure the implementation of the National Energy Protection Building Regulations 2023.
In interpreting the regulations, an official said that the owners of the building will be instructed to prefer energy-efficient building materials and to install low-voltage and energy-efficient electricity materials.
He said that if they do not comply with the above regulations, the new construction plan will not be approved. On Tuesday, a meeting was the hero of Mohammad Ali Randhawa, head of CDA. Sardar Moazzam, Managing Director of the National Energy Efficiency and Protection Agency (NECCA), and members of the CDA Board of Directors attended the meeting.
Building owners demand more energy-efficient and low-voltage electrical materials
During the meeting, CDA officials issued a letter on the adoption and implementation of the Energy Protection Building Regulation No. 2023 and the bylaws of the Pakistan Engineering Commission.
A statement issued by the CDA said: “The meeting was informed that the CDA had issued a notice to ensure the implementation of the energy conservation building regulations. The meeting decided that the implementation of NOCA building regulations must be implemented in all new buildings and buildings in Islamabad.”
“The financial aspects of the building are also reviewed for energy savings and protection of the implementation of building regulations and the implementation of these regulations will also save citizens financial savings through energy savings.”
The meeting discussed the adoption and implementation of building regulations for energy efficiency and protection. Similarly, various measures related to the establishment of electric vehicle charging stations in government and commercial buildings were also considered.
The meeting was informed that NOCA also conducted various training programs in relevant institutions to implement these regulations. Additionally, to ensure implementation, NOCA has developed software and tools, including building performance database tools, ECB compliance tools, and residential load factor tools.
The CDA chairperson directed the development of a financial model that would comply with the new regulations for old residential and commercial buildings. For the pre-existing old buildings, the new regulations will be implemented in phases after the financial review, he said. The meeting also took heroes as heroes, discussing in detail the Prime Minister’s vision for introducing electric vehicle charging stations.
According to the CDA, the meeting was informed that measures were being taken to establish charging stations in all gasoline pumps in Islamabad. In addition, measures are being taken to establish charging stations in government, commercial buildings and regions.
The NECA chief said that electricity will be provided to NECA-registered charging stations at subsidized interest rates. The meeting agreed to register a CDAS electric feeder with NECA.
It said: “The conference reached a consensus on energy conservation, construction of energy conservation building regulations and the provision of electric vehicle charging stations available throughout Islamabad.”
NECA is working in the Ministry of Energy, and its main vision, according to its website, is to “steer Pakistan towards a culture that protects and effectively utilizes energy resources for sustainable development.”
