Lahore: The District and Conference Court in Multan on Monday sentenced former MNA Jamshed Dasti to seven years in a fake degree case.
Multan Regional and Conference Judge Ali Nawaz announced the verdict in the BA fake degree case and sentenced MNA Dasti under different parts.
The court sentenced Jamshed Dasti to three years in prison under section 82, Forge as stipulated in section 420 for two years, seven years of preparation of forged documents under section 468, two years of use of fake documents as originals of section 471, and three years of dedication. Bribery under Article 206 and fine of Rs 10,000.
Pakistan Election Commission proposed refer to In 2008, Jamshed Dasti submitted fake degrees to Jamshed Dasti for election.
The committee said Jamshed Dasti covered up the facts and submitted fake degrees to debate the election and violated articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
Earlier, Jamshed Dasti was sentenced to three years in the same case and was disqualified from the MNA seat.
His judgment was cancelled and he also challenged it in 2013 in the High Court and the Supreme Court.
Muzaffargarh had tried the case, but Jamshed Dasti called for a replacement of judges in the High Court.
The court handed over the case to Multan and has been under trial for several years.
Jamshed Dasti has also not appeared in court in the past 15 hearings.
Maher Amer Akbar Siyal, Zulfiqar Dogar and Sardar Faizul Hassan were petitioners to Mr. Dasti.
He was elected as an independent candidate for the 2024 election from NA-175 (Muzaffargarh) and faces disqualification again, this time submitting a fake intermediate certificate.
