Quetta: The FIA ​​has arrested 16 sisters allegedly involved in Hawala-Hundi’s illegal currency business and human trafficking in the provincial capital.

A FIA spokesman said on Friday that Quetta, an anti-human trafficking circle, conducted a raid after receiving information about the presence of human traffickers and arrested him along with 14 Afghan nationals who planned to illegally step into Iran.

“In the operation against human smugglers, Agent Asadullah was detained along with Afghan nationals,” the spokesman said, adding that key evidence, including photos, messages and other records, was recovered from his cell phone, connecting him with trafficking.

The spokesman claimed that Asadullah was in contact with other agents involved in smuggling Afghans abroad. He said interrogation of detainees is underway while the attack was carried out to arrest more sisters.

In addition, the FIA’s commercial banking circle Quetta arrested two men suspected of participating in Hawala-Hundi and illegal currency exchange. The suspects were identified as Ali Khan and Mohammad Taqi, recovering from their property for US$6,800, Rs 21.1 lakh, a laptop and cell phone.

Records related to illegal currency transactions were also seized. The sisters are operating unlicensed currency exchange business, a spokesperson said.
