LONDON: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he personally asked London Mayor Sadiq Khan to be excluded by King Charles from the National Banquet Heroes at Windsor Castle during his second state-owned visit to Windsor Castle.
Trump, speaking with reporters on board No. 1 on his return flight to Washington, called Khan “one of the worst mayors in the world”, accusing him of failing crime and immigration.
“I haven’t been there. He wants to be there, as far as I know. I don’t have him.”
According to British media reports, the mayor did not attend the banquet and did not expect an invitation. Sources close to Sadiq Khan dismissed Mr. Trump’s remarks, saying his politics is a kind of fear and division. He claimed that London remains a “global success story” and attracted record-breaking Americans.
